About Us
Non-profit organization founded in 2016 with a mission to Save America's Horses from slaughter and abuse while the rescue horses serve to partner with youth within the community who struggle with emotional and/or cognitive disorders through our multitude of programs. Located on historic Nod Hill Homestead in Avon, CT, US Horse Welfare & Rescue offers a series of horse-facilitated youth empowerment and development programs.
Working with rescue horses provides for a more powerful interactive experience for our community's pre-teens, teens, and young adults through both non-riding therapeutic activities and riding programs.
- Our programs focus on empowering youth and helping them make healthy, informed choices so that they can respond to life’s difficulties with courage, self-awareness and confidence. Equine facilitated learning and wellness is being increasingly used as an approach to enhance emotional growth as well as develop psychological well being.
