• Grassroots Ice Cream and Street Food Expands to Simsbury, CT

April 15, 2024. Simsbury, CT - Grassroots Ice Cream and Street Food is thrilled to announce the grand opening of its newest location at 2 Wilcox Street in Simsbury, CT. The celebrations kicked off with a lively Grand Opening on Thursday, April 11, 2024, followed by a special Ribbon-Cutting ceremony in collaboration with the Granby-Simsbury Chamber of Commerce on Saturday, April 13th.

Grassroots has been a family-owned, family-run business since its opening in the former Granby General Store in 2013. Two Connecticut residents -- Jenn and Mark Sproule (Ridgefield), purchased the business in July 2022, in partnership with Jenn’s brother Brandon Pappalardo (Simsbury), an acclaimed chef who relocated from Dallas, TX.

In the Spring of 2023, a second location, an ice cream shop, was opened at 12 Bank Street, New Milford, CT.  The Simsbury location is an expansion of the original Granby-based ice cream and street food.

"We are excited to bring Grassroots to Simsbury," said Jenn Sproule. "Our mission has always been to create a welcoming space where people can enjoy quality ice cream and street food, and we look forward to becoming a part of the vibrant Simsbury community."

Grassroots' offerings extend beyond its physical locations, with their ice cream pints available at Geissler's supermarkets and The Smithy Market. Additionally, Grassroots ice cream is proudly served at Max Downtown in Hartford, Max Fish in Glastonbury, and TJ’s Burritos in East Granby.

The Simsbury location will feature Grassroots' signature ice cream flavors, along with their popular street food options, providing a delightful experience for ice cream enthusiasts and food lovers alike.

“We strive to make all our customers feel at home as they celebrate moments big and small with us or stop by for a scoop to sweeten up a tough day. We believe that ice cream makes any occasion, from a once-in-a-lifetime wedding to a typical Tuesday, better!” reads their website.
